Okie so since I didn’t do my blog last week because I was so worried about my last lecture and what on earth to talk (l didn’t get much sleep that night ><”)- but in the end it all worked out okay! ^^ And even though I was really kind of apprehensive and super worried and a bit stressed when I first started preparing for this last lecture project, after being able to listen to everyone else’s (and be super amazed by all the amazing messages, the touching stories (lol I was crying today for a bit even though I told myself I wouldn’t ><”) & funny moments (sorry John!! I was laughing in a good way, because it was just so cute picturing you as a freshman and your brother’s upperclassmen friends giving you all this advice and you being in awe of them XD- wah I didn’t mean to disrupt your speech! ><”) ) I’m really glad we had this project and were able to learn so much about each other’s battles, difficulties, good times and bad and learn from each other’s own stories & really see all aspects of each person rather than just what we show each other for an hour in AP Lit class every morning! ^^
But backtracking from my spiel above to what I was supposed to talk about last week, watching the movie for "Death of a Salesman" was really interesting because it helped us better visualize the difficulties between the family members. I especially liked Dustin Hoffman's acting as Willy Loman (did he play Biff before when he was younger too? I would like to see that) and felt that watching it all visually take place in the movie helps one make better sense of the plot- because, especially in the part that Willy is talking to himself, stuck moments of the past, (I guess they're rather like hallucinations to escape the difficulties his present circumstances?) and other people in the present time try to intervene and communicate with him and help him, (for example when Charlie comes over to play cards with Willy but Willy keeps talking to his image of his older brother Ben in the past- and both Willy and Charlie just end up confused and frustrated at each other)- in those instances I remember feeling very confused about the circumstances when we first read it out loud during class, so in those instances the movie visualizations helped more.
